We want to know!

We want help with choices and directions!

We want the highest and the best information... and ... we want it NOW!

So - we meditate, we read spiritual books and channeled newsletters, we consult the I-Ching, the Tarot and our favorite 900 line phone psychic, and we attend lectures and workshops.

But wait - what if I told you that you could have answers to most of your questions... anywhere... instantly... free of charge? And furthermore...

what if you could speak directly to an Angel? (They are certainly interested in speaking to you!)

How about holding a conversation with your own High Self and with your Guides?

Have you always been curious about Elementals, Devas and Fairies? What about Extraterrestrials and Extradimensionals?

Would you like to know what your plants are feeling and whether your cat has something to tell you about her health?

Are you interested in how many past lives you've had with your lover (on Earth and before the Earth) and what those relationships were?

All of these possibilities and much, much more, may be realized by almost anyone by learning the techniques of Pendulum Dowsing. I know because I've been dowsing for about 15 years: I teach Basic and Advanced Classes, use it in a dozen different healing modalities, (including exorcisms), I consult with Doctors, Psychiatrists, and Individuals all over the world, and now I create and wholesale a line of pendulums internationally.

I feel that my mission is to get a Pendulum (and how to use it) into the hands of every man, woman and child on the planet.

Why do I think Pendulums are so great? Because after 30 years of intensive spiritual work, learning, seeking, and teaching I've concluded that this simple, inexpensive, portable toy-tool is one of the best ways for ordinary people to begin accessing their own Inner Knowing, and awaken their Intuitive Abilities.

A. Some positive characteristics of Pendulum use:

  1. Almost everyone can learn within a few minutes.
  2. It requires NO NEW BELIEF SYSTEM - just try it - either it works for you or it doesn't - it's that simple.
  3. You can make your own from a pendant, or a ring or even a washer or nut on a string.
  4. Finding that you can get your own answers from within yourself can become a positive habit even as you begin to open up your intuitive abilities. As with any skill: perfect practice makes perfect.
  5. Pendulum Dowsing is an open-ended skill. You begin with the Physical World and, if you wish, you can move on to getting information from crystals, plants, animals, Devas, your own body parts, Inner Child, inner Male & Female, High Self, Guides, Angels, etc., etc.... the list is endless.

B. Some suggestions about Pendulum use (very similar to Channeling):

  1. If you get no movement or your answers seem "funny" then check your relationship with your Inner Child. It is she or he that motivates the Pendulum through the Involuntary Muscle System of the body. Without the child's cooperation you'll either get nothing or a false direction.
  2. Write down your questions and make your Intentions clear before you dowse (Especially in the beginning).
  3. Say a clearing prayer or invocation before dowsing (All of this will go very quickly once you're used to it).
  4. At the beginning, avoid Emotional questions (let a friend ask for you) and questions about the Future.
  5. Avoid the expression "Should I...". Use instead: "Is it in my Highest Interest (or Best Good) to...".
  6. Always know who you're talking to. Either ask who it is or, preferably, ask for a certain Part or Being in the Beginning: "Is this High Self? Are you telling the Truth? Is there anything in the way of 100% Truth?"
  7. Remember that when you open some of these doorways to other realms, times, or dimensions it is always a 2-way street! Protect yourself ahead of time from anything that may enter your body or field. If you don't know how then wait until you do!
  8. Your INTEGRITY must be impeccable and of the highest order! This is a powerful tool and as such is easily misdirected and misused. You can easily go places and get information that is either harmful to you or to which you have no right. Always ask before divulging any information to others, even (and especially) those it may concern. If you decide to cheat on this, "just a little", be prepared for a very swift and unpleasant Karmic Kick in the rear end.

My purpose here is not to teach you Dowsing; that takes a little more time and space. I do wish, however, to awaken in you the desire to learn more and to find out to your own satisfaction that you can obtain most of the information you need for your life and growth from within yourself. To learn more find books on Pendulums and Dowsing on our Resources page and Attend workshops. Ask your local bookstore, gift shop, boutique or crystal shop.

Does this mean you'll never get another reading, go to a seminar or read a book? Does this mean you'll never study with another teacher or take lessons from whatever Life hands you? No, not at all - your thirst and hunger to know and to grow will probably increase as your own abilities expand exponentially. Your childlike excitement about the pieces of your GOD-SELF that you discover will not only put a booster-rocket into your life but will joyously infect all those around you!!

Use and enjoy this information. It is part of an upcoming book and is originally copyrighted 1995.

Questions and Answers

(Fall 2002): Is it safe for me to fly today?... or ever again? Is my new roommate telling the truth? Does my dog have a really serious problem, or is it just a little indigestion? Which is the best direction for me now on my spiritual path?... in releasing my ex?... in my new diet? Is it best to stay with this career or to move, and start that new opportunity? Are there really pyramids on Mars or is somebody telling 'fairy tales'?... If so why? Why is this plant getting sick?... Less water?... more light? Is it safe to feed these leftovers to my family? If 'safe'... is it advisable? I just met this person I feel I've known forever... did we have any past lives together? Was I her 'wife' 600 years ago? What's the meaning of this crop circle? Who made it? How? Are subliminal suggestions affecting my already over-burdened Subconscious in this Department Store... without my OK?!

So, so many questions. So many, many questions we ask ourselves daily... and mostly there's little or no chance of getting any quick and real answers... or is there? I wish... I truly wish there were a way to access answers... anytime... anywhere... no hassles... free of charge... 24 hours a day... to have guidance and assistance with all of life's tiny and medium-sized and even huge joys, tasks and tribulations.

Many times in my life I have heard or seen examples of people getting and giving answers through divination, "psychic" readings and hypnosis. But do I really want to learn these things?... and anyway, do they really work?... can I trust these forms of getting life's answers?... and do I want to reveal that much of myself to someone else?

Maybe the Subconscious Self or the Super-conscious Self knows something. And, if they do, how do I get 'in touch'?

Or maybe I need to take some courses in self-hypnosis, or Tarot reading to get to the Subconscious... or... maybe... maybe there are some answers at the bookstore!

(Later that day in a local bookstore): Hullo! What's this? Right next to the section on the Subconscious is the section on Divination... and... Dowsing!!!

YYEESSS!!!! That's IT!! Dowsing's the ticket!

Hey... here's an interesting book by András Névai on the Subconscious and Pendulum Dowsing. Let's see what he's got to say. Wow, dowsing maps and great illustrations!

(Page 2): "Although Dowsing is not for everyone, most people can learn this very ancient technique in minutes and then spend 25 years deepening their knowledge and perfecting their technique. That means that learning to Dowse is a "Life-Skill", like learning to swim or speak Spanish - it's a skill that will be very useful throughout your lifetime. According to the American Society of Dowsers Quarterly Journal the oldest Pendulum found to date is in excess of 30,000 years old! That certainly takes it out of the category of a "New Age Fad"......

(Page 8): Dowsing Tools or instruments, whether Y-Rods, L-Rods, Bobbers, or Pendulums are merely indicators. Like the Speedometer needle on the dashboard of your car, a dowsing indicator merely shows on the outside what's happening on the inside... There's nothing mystical about it. It's simply intuition made visible.

(Page 10): Another way to talk about it is that a Pendulum is the world's most-portable, inexpensive-and-easy-to-use-anywhere-biofeedback-tool. It can teach you, over time, to reopen that unused, weed-choked and over-grown path to the Subconscious/Body/Inner-Child, which path most of us have neglected and forgotten about since age seven!! The Pendulum thus serves as 'pruning shears' which slowly helps us to reopen that path to our Inner-Self which is vital to our integrated well-being and full self-expression...

(Page 75): Why do I need to 'talk' to my Body/Subconscious/Inner-Child? Aren't 'they' talking to me all the time?.... Well... YES they are!... and so also is our Super-conscious/Higher Self talking to us all the time... BUT... unfortunately, WE DON'T LISTEN... WE DON'T HEAR!

...One or the other or both (Low Self and High Self) are telling us, guiding us, constantly and incessantly: "Eat at this restaurant, never at that one!; "Better hire a new bookkeeper, this one's a bit too creative!"; "Don't travel today!... in fact, don't even leave your bedroom!"; "Please, please, please... pretty please... buy us some B-Complex vitamins NOW!";... "Do go to this new weekly meditation faithfully;"... and so on, and so on.

Yes, it's true, they are talking to us all the time, yet we only hear the B-I-G   M-E-S-S-A-G-E-S such as - "I'm hungry", "I'm thirsty" - "I'm tired" - "I'm horneeeey" - "I need to go potty"... and so forth. But all the other daily thousands of messages of assistance, guidance, right direction and correct life path go unheard, unheeded and ignored...

(Page 88): ... Thus, not only does it behoove us to be in tough with Low Self/Subconscious/Body/Inner Child plus Higher Self/Superconscious/Soul to get answers to all our thousands of daily questions... but more importantly: we might never HAVE most of those questions in the first place if we were back in our fully-integrated 3 selves: Low Self - Middle Self - High Self, having instant and constant access to Inner-Knowing and Direct-Knowing leading to states of conscious evolution wherein the question IS the answer (and visa versa)".

Wow! What a mouthful! That book was great. I'm taking it home...

Hey!... Maybe I'll check out these Pendulums over here near these Dowsing books. Who knows, I might learn something...

Pendulums
by Bob Ater

Monmouth, Illinois USA

Modern treasure hunters have been discovering how useful and versatile the swinging pendulum can be. It can be easily used in the field for searching for any kind of target that can be pictured in the mind. As a map dowsing instrument it is superb. It is small enough to be carried in the pocket. Once the methods of its use are learned, it can be counted on to help bring forth valuable information from the subconscious mind. It need not cost very much to make since any small weight attached to a thread or string or small chain can work very well.

The treasure dowsing pendulum user may be surprised to learn that the use of these devices is not a new invention, but can be traced back in history at least 10,000 years. In fact, they may have been used for searching for things even earlier than that, but we have proof they were used by a very early culture located on the northeast coast of America and Canada. These early people followed the retreat of the last glacier northward, as the ice melted 10,000 years ago. The actual origin of these dowsing instruments may well have been Sumer in the area of modern Iraq.

We now have proof that pendulums were a very important part of the very ancient cultures of North America. Archaeologists who have explored ancient Indian mounds in Florida have found pendulums that are dated to about 5,000 years ago. Other examples have been found which are dated as close to our own time as 1,200 A.D. These are thought to have been very sacred instruments. They were important enough to ancient people to be placed in the graves with the bodies of the dead. A great deal of care and effort was used in their manufacture. Many are intricately formed and decorated.

Many archaeologists have been confounded when discovering these devices in ancient graves. Some have identified them as fishing weights or net sinkers. Not having an understanding of dowsing and how the pendulum is used in that art, they simply search their own personal experience for things they have seen that look similar. Their first thought is 'fishing weights'. It may well be that some of these were used occasionally for that purpose, but I am sure this was not their original intent. Most archaeologists do recognize that these artifacts were meant to be suspended from a cord for some kind and probably had some kind of 'magic' or sacred intent and use.

One pendulum weight found in an Eskimo grave was made from a walrus tooth. It still had the rawhide cord attached. The archaeologist who classified it admitted that it was not a fishing weight, but had something to do with religion or magic. He called it a 'charm stone'. It was used, I think, to dowse for walrus and other game animals and fish. It may well have also been used to find the way home or to gain other valuable information. The Eskimo culture was not limited to Alaska. It spread out over the far northern part of North America from the Pacific to the Atlantic. When the Norse explorers arrived on the shores of North America they were met by many skin bots filled with Eskimos. This was the same area where thousands of these dowsing pendulums stones have been found in the graves of a culture that is dated to at least 10,000 years old, the Red Paint People.

Magnetic Pendulums

Ancient pendulums were most often made of shaped and decorated stone. Sometimes, as was the case in much of Florida, the hearts of conch shells were carved into pendulum weights.

Sometimes even pottery fragments were reshaped into pendulums. In Egypt they were sometimes made intentionally from pottery clay, then fired and decorated.

Some Indian medicine men seemed to have preferred pendulums made of iron ore called magnetite. The fact that the material was magnetic probably added mystery and wonder to its use. Two such pendulums made of this material are illustrated here. Such devices are really 'treasures' in their own right.

These facts about ancient pendulums should be very exciting to we modern treasure hunting dowsers. They provide a real psychic connection to those ancient treasure hunters of long ago. If they could search for targets that were of interest to them and experience a great deal of success, then we today can certainly do the same. They must have promoted the art of pendulum dowsing for more than ten millenniums.

The Pitch and the Pendulum - Debate in full swing over 'decision' tool
by Bill Briggs Denver Post Staff Writer
Appeared in The Denver Post November 8, 1995

The salesman had a flowing silver mane, two accent marks in his name and he rolled into town recently to peddle gleaming promises of a better life.

In hypnotic fashion, András Névai plucked a nickel-plated pendulum from his precious collection, dangled it over an open palm and reeled off the countless ways in which his shiny 'toys' can make your day.

"It's something you can carry around in your pocket and (use anywhere) to find out what vitamins your body wants, which menu items at the restaurant would be healthiest for you, whether people are telling you the truth," Névai began.

By asking 'yes' or 'no' questions and watching how the thing swings, a pendulum can diagnose why you have a headache, pinpoint ailing parts in your car, even help you pick and honest plumber from the yellow pages, Névai claimed. He uses his 20 to 30 times a day for things like choosing a safe bus or selecting the freshest cut of fish.

And you shouldn't be shy about openly swaying them on the sidewalk or in the supermarket, he said. A decade ago, somebody shuffling down the street with a cellular phone in their car looked odd. Today it's common. Someday, Névai predicted, everybody will be packing a pendulum.

"It's a skill for a lifetime that takes three minutes to learn and 30 years to perfect, like the piano," Névai said. "It's a lost art, is what it is."

"It's not something new that's strange and mysterious."

Certainly not to Névai, who's been "penduling" for 15 years. At his house in Sedona, Arizona he and six other people craft 1,000 different models from minerals and metals shipped in from India, China and all over America. They're made from quartz, copper, silver, moonstone and more.

He then takes his trinkets to cities like Denver, Chicago and Raleigh, NC, here he sells them to new-age knickknack shops. He also pushes his pendulum notions: basically that these special pendants allow your subconscious mind to talk to you through involuntary muscle movements.

It's all a part of the age-old concept of dowsing, Névai said, referring to the practice of sniffing out underground water or ore with a divining rod. In this case, the tool is a pendulum. Users are supposed to hold the pendulum in their dominant hand and ask it to "show me my yes," then "show me my no." By watching how it swings in response - right to left, back and forth or diagonally, "yes" and "no" questions can be answered. For those who really get into this, there are books with charts to help determine everything from whom you should go out with to what fates lie ahead.

"Have you ever had a hunch? We all have. What happens to people who have the most hunches and act on them? They become the heads of organizations and businesses," Névai said. "All a hunch is is a little sign from your subconscious - the body telling you that you should or should not do something."

But critics have their own hunches about Névai.

A fringe player

"He's probably dealing right on the edge, really on the fringe of science," said Rich Jamison, a New Jersey Ph.D. and "mind coach" who helps clients tap into their "subconscious power." There is some data supporting the idea that involuntary muscle movements - technically called "ideomotor responses" - can make a pendulum swing different ways, seemingly on its own, Jamison said.

And some within the science community think these responses are indeed spurred by the subconscious - the place in our mind where thoughts, ideas and feelings flow without our waking knowledge.

"There is something here," Jamison said. "I don't know how much of what he's selling is hype and marketing but I think there's a great deal more intelligence in our subconscious minds than in our conscious minds.

"The question is: Do we have all the intelligence to answer all these questions?" Jamison said. "He might be totally legitimate and this could be something useful in time. Or he could be selling snake oil."

What Névai said he's selling is the key to unlocking your own internal resources. The cost varies depending on the material used in the pendulum.

Wide price range

For just $5, you can pick up a hand-painted bead on a metal chain. At the top of the line, you can purchase a rose quartz in Bali silver on a sterling silver chain all suspended from a three-bead Indian emerald. The price is $162.

"You can make your own pendulum. You don't have to buy one from me," Névai said. Women at baby showers use a needle and thread to try and predict the infant's gender. That's simply a pendulum dialing up the mother's subconscious.

"But if you're going to use something every day, you want it to be nice.

As far as the materials and their supposed powers, glass is "very dead," Névai. "Quartz, meanwhile, has "a high vibration" and is more sensitive.

But every rule was made to be broken.

"There are old guys who use metal and do real fine. The real instrument is this one," he said, touching his chest. People "need to have a little more faith in what we haven't discovered in ourselves...

"Since the Renaissance, there's been more faith in science, in things outside ourselves... in doctors or the medical establishment. I don't want to pick a fight with the AMA, but the real priesthood is doctors, scientists and engineers.

"Now, don't get me wrong," Névai said. "It's good that these people are around. We wouldn't have bridges or brain surgery without them.

"However, we've gone too far. We've lost track of the soft senses and the things we get from within ourselves," he said. "I'm just asking people to go back to their own resources, to their own freedom."

Part of the problem with that thinking, says Bela Scheiber, president of the Rocky Mountain Skeptics, is you wouldn't want a brain surgeon asking a pendulum: "Should I cut here or maybe over here?

"I certainly wouldn't want President Clinton to use a pendulum in making foreign policy decisions."

Well, maybe that's a bad example, given Clinton's policy swings.

But seriously, asks Scheiber, "Would you take a child to the doctor based on his pendulum movements?"

The whole concept fails, Scheiber believes, because it trivializes the decision-making process. It's an easy shortcut around being thoughtful.

"It's a copout," Scheiber said. "It eliminates the need for analysis, for hard work... He is really on a stretch. People have been doing quite well for a long time making decisions without using this technique."
